What does my Canadian paperwork actually say?

Upload your own payslip or form, or pick a document below. Either way we read it back to you line by line, and flag the boxes that cost people money.

Your T4 slip

You get this: By the end of February

What your employer told the CRA you were paid, and what they already took off.

Box 14 Employment income

Your gross pay for the year, which goes on line 10100.

Box 22 Income tax deducted

Tax already paid on your behalf. Your refund is the difference against your real bill.

Box 16 CPP contributions

Capped for the year, so a second job can mean overpaying.

Two jobs often means too much CPP and EI, which comes back as a refund.

Box 18 EI premiums

Also capped for the year.

Box 20 RPP contributions

Company pension money, already deducted from your taxable income.

Box 52 Pension adjustment

This is what reduces your RRSP room for next year.
